On this Memorial Day, I would like to convey my gratitude and respect to Senator John McCain.
We disagree on a great deal politically. His overly aggressive foreign policy and somewhat wavering support of the Bush tax cuts are two big issues that come immediately to mind. These issues and others make it difficult for me to contemplate voting for him.
But if anyone has earned the right to respectful consideration of thier offer of service as Commander in Chief, it's John McCain. He paid a huge price for this country.
It's unfortunate the current poltical climate makes many feel they can't acknowledge the service of a member of an opposing political party. It's my hope this short dairy is a very small step toward improving that climate.
